Year-round formula for canaries and finches as well as budgies (parakeets) and other small parrots.

Conversion:All birds should start out and remain on High Potency Formula for a period of at least 6 months.

Special needs:For birds that are molting, overweight, underweight, particularly active, housed in a cold climate, recovering from an illness or affected by liver or kidney disease.

Weaning Birds:Feed High Potency Formula for at least 6-9 months.

Breeding Birds:Birds should be fed High Potency Formula 1-2 months prior to the breeding period and until chicks are weaned or for at least six months before resuming Adult Lifetime Formula. The amount of supplemental certified organic vegetables and fruits may be increased until the chicks are weaned. For each 2 Tbs (20 g) Formula, add ½ (5 g) Tbs certified organic sunflower seeds.

Storage: Harrison's Bird Foods do not contain artificial preservatives. Once opened, a bag of Harrison's should be used up within 6 weeks. Storing food in fridge or freezer helps maintain freshness. Note "use before" dating printing on bag.

Excellent pellet food for budgie

Harrison's bird food has a strong reputation among budgie owners, but it can be difficult to find a supplier in Canada with reasonable prices. While more expensive than other bird food pellets, this mixture is all natural, avoids chemicals and sugars, and is formulated by an avian vet. Each bird is different, but my little budgie took to this food easily. If you have a budgie whose diet is based too much on seeds, I highly recommend this pellet food to help improve the diet.

Harrison's High Potency Super Fine

I use this for my 2 budgies I got about a month ago. This size is perfect for them. Their vet is recommending this brand. I used it to completely wean them off the seeds that were giving them trouble - crop issues, aggression, lethargy, etc. It took me a few weeks to do it. I still feed them veggies and fruits. They love this now! One was molting and another one just started and this seems to help them go through it. Their poop is improving and they look very happy now. I am not sure how they will be long term on this. Fingers crossed. It has normal grainy nutty smell. It is very hard to find this stuff in regular stores. Delivery was quick - a couple of days. Customer service was very helpful with placing this order. So far so good. Hope it stays this way.

Harrisons Super Fine

I have a 4 year old Budgie who would only eat seeds. It took about a week but now he fully eats these pellets and loves them. Was also able to get him converted to Tangos Freeze Dried Veggie Bites as well.

Harrison's bird food review

Pelleted food seems to be the best way top feed my budgies and to ensure they get the best nutrition with no waste. and you don't have to separate or blow off the shells every day! Although hard to find at most pet stores Harrison's is one of the most highly recommended bird diets you can find! Ordering from The Parrot Shop makes it easy to ensure that I can get this product when needed.

Harrisons Super Fine High Potency

Well at least my picky bird is swallowing some of these. I have been adding this to his sweet potato to soften it a little and allow him to taste it. I saw him trying a few nibbles of the dry crumbles today. Not eating enough to sustain him though. Hopefully that will change.

Excellent pellets for budgies

I started my little guy (Bartolomeo) on Harrison's just a few months after I adopted him. Harrison's has a really strong reputation for quality bird food, and this pellet didn't disappoint. I add some to a mix of seeds and other pellets to his food each day (I put the Harrison's on top), and he devours the Harrison's. While I still ensure he gets fresh greens every day, I really like the fact that this pellet is nutritious, but not fattening (like a diet too rich in seed). I highly recommend this pellet if you have a budgie.
