HIGH POTENCY COARSE Maximum Nutritional Formula for Medium to Large Birds

Year-round formula for all medium to large parrots, especially African greys, cockatoos, large conures, eclectus, macaws and pionus. Other species may be switched to Adult Lifetime Formula after a 6 month conversion period. Conversion: All birds should start out and remain on High Potency Formula for a period of at least 6 months.

Special needs: For birds that are molting, overweight, underweight, particularly active, housed in a cold climate, recovering from an illness or affected by liver or kidney disease.

Weaning Birds: Feed High Potency Formula for at least 6-9 months.

Breeding Birds: Birds should be fed High Potency Formula 1-2 months prior to the breeding period and until chicks are weaned or for at least six months before resuming Adult Lifetime Formula. The amount of supplemental certified organic vegetables and fruits may be increased until the chicks are weaned. For each 2 Tbs (20 g) formula, add ½ Tbs (5 g) certified organic peanuts or almonds and 1Tbs (10 g) certified organic sunflower seeds.

Great diet for a variety of parrots!

I started feeding HBD to my late Linnie when his behavior started to be very strange! After blood work and a vet check up with nothing wrong, I decided to change his diet and see if it would curb his bratty behavior that was so unlike him. I don't know how or why, but it made such a difference that people calling my home noticed! After he passed away I started offering my birds different pellets that were available locally, but when I adopted my Meyer's parrot and he was showing the same behavior my linnie was, I decided to try the same switch. I just wish I had known about how small the pellets were! I ordered the size down for him (Fine) thinking this size would be too big, but it's definitely small enough for Meeko to eat. If you are looking to buy this food for any bird larger than about 150g, I would buy this size :) or if they are like Meeko and like to hold their food.

Great Food!

My alexandrine took to it very quickly. Only complaint is I wish it had a size between the large pieces I ordered and the medium size, but that isn't on the Parrot Shop. I was suggested this food by the vet, and my bird likes it a lot so far!
